€˜Toyah: Acoustic, Up Close & Personal€™

‘Toyah: Acoustic, Up Close & Personal’ After Toyah’s sell-out performance last year, the household name, pop icon, TV presenter and stage/screen actress is returning to the Engine Shop at Enginuity in Coalbrookdale on Friday evening, 7th October.

‘Toyah: Acoustic, Up Close & Personal’ is a wonderful chance to experience the 1980s pop superstar in an intimate setting where music and stories take centre stage.

This lively, entertaining and revealing show sees Toyah performing an unplugged set of her much-loved hits and classic songs. Guitarists Chris Wong and Colin Hinds will accompany Toyah on meticulous and melodic acoustic versions of It’s A Mystery, Thunder In The Mountains, I Want To Be Free and Good Morning Universe through to Sensational, a track from a recent national TV advertising campaign starring Patsy Kensit.

Toyah will also be recalling stories from her colourful, 35 year career, which has included roles in Calamity Jane, Cabaret, Peter Pan, Jubilee and Quadrophenia. From filming pop videos on horseback at 5am in the morning to acting alongside Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier this is a show which lifts the lid on working in the entertainment business.

2015 saw Toyah act in the acclaimed cult British feature film Ahhhhhhhh! directed by Steve Oram, while 2016 will also see the release of more films in which Toyah has roles including Extremis, Lies We Tell and Kaleidoscope Man. As ever, Toyah’s annual concert diary is also packed with summer festivals, acoustic shows and electric gigs with her full band. Her transatlantic rock band The Humans featuring Bill Rieflin (King Crimson, REM) and Chris Wong recently released their third album Strange Tales.

Priced at £20 per person (no concession) tickets to ‘Toyah: Acoustic, Up Close & Personal’, are available in advance only. They can be purchased online or from the Ironbridge Visitor Information Centre and any of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum shops. Tickets include admission into Enginuity from 5pm, the auditorium opens at 7pm and the performance starts at 8pm. There will be an interval when light refreshments and bar drinks will be available; Ironbridge Gorge Museum Passports are not valid for this event.
