With its aphrodisiac reputation, it's no wonder oyster sales increase during the days leading up to Valentine's Day.
And now with the launch of a brand new seafood bar at The Market Hall in Shrewsbury shoppers are being given the opportunity to sample the food themselves.
With a passion for fish, Ian Cornall owner of Barworths Seafoods in the Market Hall will be opening the seafood bar in front of his shop and shoppers will be able to sit and enjoy an oyster or some jellied eels.
"We wanted to try something a little different and the seafood bar seemed like a really good idea," explained Ian.
"We are hoping the launch of the new bar will attract interest from all shoppers because we all know oysters are one of the best-known edible aphrodisiacs".
Barkworths Seafoods have been trading in the town for more than eighty years and at one time boasted two trawlers, sells top quality British inshore fish, shellfish and smoked fish from Scarborough, Whitby, Brixham and Scotland.
The Seafood Bar will be open 9am - 4pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
