The Heart of England in Bloom Awards is part of the Royal Horticultural Society's Britain in Bloom Campaign

Entrants in the contest had been patiently waiting since July for the results following visits to their respective towns and villages by competition judges.

Chairman of Heart of England in Bloom Mike Garwood said: "Everyone is proud to be involved with In Bloom which is one of the largest horticultural campaigns in Europe and even more so when they receive their prestigious awards."

Heart of England in Bloom is the regional element of the Britain in Bloom Campaign organised by the Royal Horticultural Society which encourages communities to work together to improve and enhance their local environment.

The judges are not only looking for horticultural achievement when they visit but take into consideration a responsibility for the environment and a display of community participation.

The Heart of England in Bloom region covers a wide area from Gloucestershire to North Staffordshire and includes Birmingham and the Black Country, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire
