Shrewsbury chosen for the Coach Friendly Award 2012

Shrewsbury chosen for the Coach Friendly Award 2012 Destination Shrewsbury is celebrating the news that Shrewsbury has been chosen for the Coach Friendly Award 2012 by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT).

The Award reflects the work that Destination Shrewsbury partners, including Shrewsbury Tourism Association and Shropshire Council have put into provision for coaches in the town.

Work does not stop with the achievement of the award, however, and Shrewsbury will continue to work with the CPT to improve the coach offer and facilities, including resolving an additional coach set down point in the town centre as a priority.

The application from Destination Shrewsbury was submitted in June 2012 and representatives of the CPT made an inspection visit to the town in November.

Judie McCoy, Director of Shrewsbury Tourism Association, said: "I am delighted to hear the news. Shrewsbury Tourism Association has been working with the Council towards this award and we look forward to improving further with the help and advice of the CPT."
