This half term, the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford is offering children the chance to design and make their very own mini kite. This creative and fun activity will run from 31st May to 3rd June and all materials for this hands-on workshop will be provided by the Museum. Museum staff will be on hand to help, with ready made examples to inspire children. Participants will also get to take their kite home as a memento of the day.
Sessions will run from 11.00am-12.30pm and 2.00pm-3.30pm. Tickets will be available at the admissions desk on arrival and participation costs just £1.00 per person.
The Museum is one day out that everyone from small children upwards will enjoy whatever the weather. Children and adults alike will be fascinated by fun ‘n’ flight. This free interactive area is packed with hands on excitement; it’s the easy way to answer all those questions about how planes stay up in the air. Whether you’re testing your ability to fly a plane or guiding a Hercules to a drop zone, you will be learning, improving your co-ordination but most importantly of all having a great time.
As an additional treat why not hop onto the thrilling flight simulator, a great way to get an instant flying experience for just £2.75. Soar into the sky with the Red Arrows or ride in a Eurofighter, the most advanced aircraft ever built.
The Visitor Centre is home to the Refuel Restaurant serving hot and cold meals and snacks. The Checkpoint Charlie Café serving light snacks and drinks and the well stocked Museum Shop are both located within The National Cold War Exhibition.
For further information on the Kites Workshop and other events taking place at the RAF Museum in 2011, please contact the Museum on 01902 376200 or visit www.rafmuseum.org. The Museum is open daily from 10am – 6pm. Entry to the Museum is FREE.
