Highlights of the 2010 Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival 22nd April - 25th April include the Festival themed exhibition at Bear Steps Gallery featuring new cartoon originals, and prints, on the theme of Magic, Myth and Mystery.
Ahead of this year’s event, comedian Phill Jupitus and BBC Radio 2 presenter Alex Lester have joined broadcasters Libby Purves and Andrew Marr, and Professor Colin Pillinger, as patrons of the event. Phill may not make it to the 2010 Festival due to other commitments, but he has expressed his support and enthusiasm. And Alex Lester does plan to join fellow patron Libby Purves at this year’s event.
2010 sees exhibitions of Greek and Australian cartoons at Theatre Severn. From workshops, advice sessions, giant cartoons on display in the Square and caricaturing, the town provides some excellent entertainment for everyone with opportunities to buy work produced by some of the UK's top cartoonists.
Since 2003 the town has hosted this international event which attracts around 40 full-time, professional cartoonists and caricaturists from the UK and abroad.
