Battlefield Falconry Centre Open Day

Battlefield Falconry Centre Open Day 25th April 2011

When Mark Southall took early retirement at the beginning of September last year little did he know life was never going to be the same again. Mark has become the number one Falconer in the area and has fast become a very popular name in Shrewsbury and beyond. His Hawksonwalks, where customers enjoy a wonderful walk through woodland with a Harris Hawk has developed into a full-time occupation proving extremely popular with all who take part.

Mark quickly saw the potential of the popularity of the exciting activity and with the backing of Battlefield 1403 has progressed by providing a Bird of Prey centre at Battlefield. In a few months he has created an impressive site at Battlefield 1403 displaying a variety of indigenous owls and falcons along with more exotic specimens.

Mark said that he has been extremely privileged to have the opportunity to develop the Bird of Prey Centre and loves every minute of his days now making a career from his interest in Falconry.

Battlefield Falconry Centre is now offering a wide range of activities – from a bird handling experience to a full or half day Falconry session, children’s parties and photographic sessions. Full details of all the activities on offer can be found on the Hawksonwalks site.

Mark and his team of volunteers have arranged an open day at Battlefield Falconry Centre for Easter Monday – 25th April 2011 -10:00 am till 4:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come and get close up and personal to a magnificent European Eagle Owl called Boo and say hi to Tink the cool kestrel !!!!
