Wrexham & Shropshire has become a local success story bringing quality service and great value fares to communities that had been without a direct service for many years. The company’s quality of service has been recognised by passengers, having recently achieved a 98% customer satisfaction rating in this year’s National Passenger Survey, the highest rating in the survey’s history.
Earlier this year Michael Palin helped launch Wrexham & Shropshire’s set of refurbished trains at London Marylebone. The rail company has remained committed to providing an innovative service that is both value for money and convenient for the passenger. This was underlined by a fares freeze for 2010 which means passengers can still travel direct from Wrexham to London and back for just £53 or from Shrewsbury for £40.
Wrexham & Shropshire has worked hard to set a new standard for rail travel, pioneering a number of innovative options to a journey even easier. Passengers travelling with Wrexham & Shropshire can ‘buy-on-board’ at no extra cost or choose to have their tickets delivered to their mobile phone. They can even print their tickets out at home instead of waiting for them to be delivered.
Thomas Ableman, Marketing Director for Wrexham & Shropshire said: “We have achieved a phenomenal amount in just two years of operation, and we’re proud of our success. Most importantly we value our role in the community in providing residents with a direct service to London, which makes the 98% customer satisfaction rating all the more significant.”
Most of Wrexham & Shropshire's staff are local recruits and many have worked with the company from the start. Train manager Richard Rayworth is pleased to help celebrate the company's second anniversary: "I know from the feedback we get day-to-day that our customers really appreciate the service we provide. It's not only about a train service, we are genuinely proud to offer a friendly face, sound travel advice and delicious food on-board. We’re thrilled to share the anniversary with our passengers."
