This summer it’s your turn to follow in the footsteps of the greatest engineers like Isambard Kingdom Brunel by making an electric buggy between 23rd July and 14th August or boat between 15th August and 4th September at the Enginuity, one of the 10 Ironbridge Gorge Museums, near Ironbridge, Shropshire.
Coalbrookdale-born Thomas Parker designed the first electric car in 1884 and this summer you can make your own battery-powered buggy from 23rd July to 14th August or take inspiration from Brunel, well known for his incredible steam ships, and build a sailing boat from craft materials and set it to sail from 15th August to 4th September.
Enginuity’s ‘Travel and Transport’ drop-in workshops run daily between 10.30am and 3.45pm. Activities will vary from day-to-day, buggies are £5 each and boats £1 to make and take home. There will also be a variety of paper-based activities included in the admission charge throughout the summer.
Open 10am to 5pm Enginuity is one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums. A great value Annual Passport Ticket allowing unlimited entry into all ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums costs £25 per adult, £20 for seniors, £15 for children under 18, £68 for a family of two adults and all their children and £50 for a family with one adult; under 5s free (terms and conditions apply); Passports can also be bought online in advance saving 10% and individual entry tickets are available at each museum.
