This year's event is being held on Thursday 14 May in the historic, Grade 1 listed Cound Hall near Shrewsbury. Open to the public especially for the event, gardening lovers will be able to enioy the beautiful parkland surrounding the house, which makes a stunning location for the day.
Among the local businesses sponsoring the event is estate agents, Savills in Telford. Tony Morris-Eyton, Head of Office, Residential at Savills says: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting this wonderful event for the second year running.
"The event, run by the local volunteer committee, was an enormous success in 2014 and we are proud to be one of the three lead sponsors for the 2015 event to be held at Cound Hall. I know that our co-lead sponsors, the professional firms, Dyke Yaxley and FBC Manby Bowdler will agree with me that Cound Hall is an absolutely fabulous location."
A gardening enthusiasts dream, the event will feature over 50 exhibitors, including specialist nurseries and others who, along with corporate sponsors, will provide a selection of garden related items, plants, country clothing and outdoor lifestyle ranges.
Caroline Savage, senior community fundraiser at the Red Cross in Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Worcestershire said: "We appreciate the opportunity to hold one of our Great Garden Events in the heart of rural Shropshire and our very grateful to Mr and Mrs David Sykes-Waller for allowing us to run the event at Cound Hall."
"Last year's event held at the Sansaw Estate drew 800 visitors and raised just over £11,000, is a tribute to gardening enthusiasts for the inaugural event. The event is run by a large team of dedicated volunteers, without whom this fundraising event could not take place."
The event runs from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. Admission entrance to the event, in the grounds of Cound Hall only, is £6.00 per person at the entrance gate or £5.00, in advance, via www.redcross.org.uk/Greatsummergarden.
Funds raised by the event will go on to support Red Cross services in Shropshire, which include services to help people to maintain their independence; this could involve anything from loaning a wheelchair, providing transport to medical appointments, or supporting them to return home after a stay in hospital.
We also provide first aid at events, community first aid training, emergency response and our youth team helps young people develop humanitarian values and gain vital life skills.
