The Shrewsbury Carnival & Showtakes place on 13th June with the Carnival Parade being the highlight with its colourful floats, lively procession, dance troupes, bands and music.
Beginning in Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park at 10am the show side of our event provides a full programme of arena entertainment, trade and charity stalls and a fantastic fun fair along with food from local producers.
At 2pm the parade with themed floats, walking groups, marching bands and dancers will take to the streets of the town centre. Throughout the day Shrewsbury Carnival and Show will be raising money for local charities.
The theme for the 2015 Shrewsbury Carnival is Carnival Goes on Holiday.
Please note some roads in the town centre will be close during the parade.
The main Carnival Parade leaves the Quarry at 2pm and we will need to close the following town centre roads at 1.30pm:
Victoria Avenue, Victoria Quay, Smithfield Road, Castle Gates, Castle Street, St Mary's Street, Dogpole, High Street, Shoplatch, Bellstone, Barker Street, Bridge Street, Roushill and Raven Meadows.
There will be no access over the Welsh Bridge from Frankwell and traffic will be stopped at the sorting office in Castle Foregate. The only traffic allowed past the closure at the English Bridge gyratory will be for access to businesses on Wyle Cop or town walls.
The roads will re-open as soon as the parade has reached the Quarry Park and road safety checks have been completed at around 3.45pm.
