For two weekends only on 19 & 20 and 26 & 27 February, visitors to the town house will be shown around Wroxeter’s very own Romans!
Wroxeter Comes to Life
On Sat 19 - Sun 20 and Sat 26 - Sun 27 Feb, visitors can catch a glimpse of domestic Roman life as costumed guides lead special tours of the new Town House. Tours will run hourly from 10.30am to 3.30pm and will last about 20 minutes.
During February half term (Mon 21 - Fri 25 Feb), there will also be plenty of entertainment for children, with craft activities and the opportunity to explore the new town house.
Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day
The Town House was constructed as part of the entertaining Channel 4 TV series “Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day”. This follows six modern builders as they construct the building using only tools and equipment that would have been available in Roman times. They have been aided in their quest by a manual on Roman building written by engineer Vitruvius 2000 years ago, and supervised by Professor Dai Morgan Evans, the project’s planner. The builders have had just six months to master the skills and complete the project.
The six-part TV series started on Thursday 20 January, and airs weekly on Channel 4 at 9pm.
