Music acts sought to help festive event go with a bang

Music acts sought to help festive event go with a bang Music acts are being sought to help Shrewsbury's Christmas lights switch-on go with a bang.

This year's Christmas Cracker event, to mark the launch of the town's new Christmas lights and the start of festive late night shopping, is being organised by Shrewsbury Town Council in partnership with Shrewsbury Shopping Centres and is sponsored by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID).

The event will take place on November 19, from 5pm until 7.30pm.

Event bosses are, once again, promising an evening of festive fun for all ages with musical entertainment, special guests and, of course, the return of the popular lantern parade.

Kirsten Henly, Shrewsbury BID manager, said: "Getting into the spirit of Christmas, this is a great opportunity for local musicians to get involved in the town festivities and will form part of a wider Christmas campaign to attract visitors to our town and showcase its unique offer."

To take part in the Christmas Cracker event musical acts must be available to perform on November 19 between 5pm and 7.30pm. Time slots and locations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

To register for the event email or call 01743 257654. Registrations must be received by October 24.
