Visitors will be able to get up close and personal to members of the re-enactment society, who will be providing a glimpse into what life would have been like in the 13th century, on Saturday August 25, Sunday August 26 and Monday August 27.
In the heart of the encampments members of the group will demonstrate trades and skills that would have been used in medieval times.
Arena displays will provide the location for soldiers to practice their combat techniques and a knight on horseback will demonstrate his prowess and combat skills, dedicating his performance to his Lady.
There will also be a demonstration of a Perrier catapult, a small stone sling-shot, used in medieval times to attack smaller groups of infantry.
Each day will culminate in the final battle, an assault on the camp of King John’s army of Knights, by the rebel forces of Baron Fulk Fitzwarren, a one time nobleman, turned outlaw.
Martin Latham, organiser of the Les Miles Des Marches society, said: “This event marks our fifth consecutive year of medieval re-enactment over the August Bank Holiday at Hawkstone.
“It’s an incredible location, set in the Grand Valley, with the added benefit of The Follies, where families can spend time exploring.
“We’ll be looking to provide pure family entertainment, with our mix of medieval battles and living history. Nothing is pre-scripted, so anything can happen.
“We’re partnering with Conquest, a national re-enactment society, so this year’s event is set to be even bigger and better than previous years.”
Mary Whyte, who is organising the event on behalf of Hawkstone, added: “This year’s medieval weekend is set to be the best yet. Whilst we cannot guarantee the weather, we can certainly guarantee visitors a great time.”
The park is open every day throughout July and August, from 10.00am till 5.30pm. Last entrance will be two hours before closing.
Adults: £7.00; Concessions: £6.00; Child: £4.50; Family(2+2): £22.00; Extra Children: £3.00 each.
