Town Mayor Councillor Jon Tandy paid a visit to Oxon Hall Touring Park to present the certificate to Edward Goddard, managing director of Shrewsbury-based Morris Leisure, which owns the park and managers Clive and Virginia Jones on Monday.
Judges of both the Britain in Bloom and Heart of England in Bloom competitions visited Oxon Hall Touring Park to view the floral displays and manicured grounds during their tour of the town last summer.
Shrewsbury went on to win the coveted Britain in Bloom national award for the best large town or small city and The Dingle in the town won the best park accolade. The judges said business support in the town was "exceptional" and described Shrewsbury as "one of those hidden gems in the English crown."
This year, for the first time, the town is competing for the prestigious Britain in Bloom Champion of Champions title. Shrewsbury is up against Ahoghill in Ulster, the City of London, Glenrothes in Scotland, Stockton-on-Tees and Woolton in Liverpool.
The Mayor Cllr Tandy praised Morris Leisure and Oxon Hall Touring Park for their contribution towards the successful Britain in Bloom campaign.
"On behalf of the people of Shrewsbury I would like to thank Morris Leisure and the caravan park for everything they do for the town and their commitment to the Britain in Bloom competition," he said. “It’s great that so many companies across the town worked together to help Shrewsbury win the competition last year and long may this continue."
Mr Goddard said the company and Oxon Hall Touring Park were delighted to play their part in maintaining Shrewsbury's reputation as 'the town of flowers'.
"Winning the Britain in Bloom award was a fantastic achievement for Shrewsbury as a whole and helps to raise the town's profile as a must see tourist destination," he added.
"We take great pride in the appearance of Oxon Hall Touring Park and Oxon Pool Holiday Home Park, which enjoy a stunning parkland setting on the edge of the town and attract thousands of visitors every year."
