The jubilee-inspired cake was donated by The Icing Tip and was raffled off in aid of the Shropshire RCC Carers Appeal, raising £418 in total.
The money raised will support the 30,000 family carers in Shropshire who provide invaluable, unpaid help to loved ones.
The raffle was just one of a series of fundraising events at the Market Hall, which is also taking part in Coffee for Carers week from June 18 to 24.
Various activities will be taking place at the market throughout the week including Cycling for Carers on June 23 from 10am until 11.30am. Register for a 10 mile cycle ride around Shrewsbury and raise money for local carers. Entry is £5 for families and £3 for individuals.
Elodie Home, community fundraiser for the appeal said: “I would like to thank the Icing Tip for donating the cake, the Market Hall for letting us collect on the Friday and Saturday and our team of volunteers who collected for us. The money raised will help support well-deserving carers in Shropshire.”
Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the market added: “The Shropshire RCC Carers Appeal is one that I am sure is close to all our hearts, the vast majority of us will know someone who has provided care for a loved one, or who needs care themselves. Many of these unpaid carers carry on without a thought for their own health and well-being and the carers appeal helps to provide these people with some much needed support and respite. We will be doing our best to raise vital funds over the course of Coffee for Carers week so do pop in and join us.”
