Hocus pocus and photo trickery at museum lecture

Hocus pocus and photo trickery at museum lecture Art forms, artists and magic will be the focus of a fascinating talk based around visual deception, taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford next month.

This interactive and engaging talk entitled ‘Now you see it, now you don’t: The art of visual deception’ will take place on Monday 15 February in the museum’s lecture theatre, with seating for up to 200 guests.

Hosting the talk will be Bertie Pearce, a member of the inner magic circle, who promises to surprise, amaze and amuse his audience with captivating imagery, 3D objects and thought provoking discussions which will include some audience participation.

The talk will introduce the art forms of: Trompe L'Oeil; Anamorphic Art; Composite Portraiture, Impossible Figures, ambiguous imagery, street art and graffiti. Featuring artists as diverse as Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Banksy and Victor Vassarely, this talk will inform and entertain visitors and Bertie promises to throw in some magic tricks for good measure!

Bertie Pearce has performed all over the world, including the Magic Castle in Hollywood and the Bertie and Boo Cafe in Balham. He is a popular lecturer sharing his passion for: Magic, Punch and Judy, Charles Dickens and optical illusions.

The ‘Now you see it - Now you don't’ talk is supported by the Wrekin Decorative Fine Arts Association. Commencing at 11.30am on 15 February, the talk will last approximately one hour and is recommended for families with children over the age of ten.
