Shropshire’s premier cookery school is celebrating a prosperous start to the New Year, just two months after its official opening.
Located on the National Trust’s Upper Brompton Farm, part of the Attingham Estate near Shrewsbury, state-ofthe-
art Brompton Cookery School proved to be hugely popular over the Christmas season with eager cooks
travelling from all over the country to brush up their culinary skills. To cope with demand the business already has
plans for expansion, backed by the Trust who have part-financed the initiative along with the Rural Development
Programme for England, through Advantage West Midlands.
The on site accommodation, provided by adjacent luxury B&B Brompton Farmhouse, is to be boosted by the
addition of ten new double rooms with several redundant farm buildings undergoing complete restoration,
meaning more guests coming from further afield will have the option of combining their cookery course with an

school, making Brompton a creative hub for country pursuits in the most idyllic of surroundings.
The brainchild of director Philippa Home, Brompton is the first of its kind on a National Trust property and as a
small business conceived at the height of the recession, is proving that the nation’s passion for food and cooking
is also a profitable one.
“So far the project is exceeding all expectations,” says Philippa. “I am incredibly lucky as the National Trust have
been, and continue to be, amazingly supportive. Our New Year programme includes an enticing variety of one
and half day courses such as Stylish Vegetarian Food and Meat Glorious Meat, plus our seasonal Healthy Start
to the New Year course, which runs through January and into February. We are also offering gift vouchers for all
