Escape to the Country, which helps prospective buyers to find their perfect country home, recently contacted the British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry, whose Chairman, Clive Knowles, and his family themselves relocated from the Black Country to its Shropshire base some 12 years ago.
The Centre will feature as one of the jewels in Shropshire’s crown, and will showcase its many attractions including the 90-acre Shropshire Sculpture Park, the traditional skills of its talented sculptors, blacksmiths and silversmiths and report on some of its high-profile work including the Great British Spoon appeal and the current “Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife” campaign.
The national anti-knife crime campaign proved to be of particular interest with one of the show’s presenters, Jules Hudson, contributing to its creation by welding a surrendered knife to the “Guardian Angel” sculpture which will act as a national memorial following the culmination of the project.
Clive Knowles, Chairman of the Centre, said “We were incredibly excited to be approached by the BBC, and hope that we have done everything we can to promote Shropshire and everything that our beautiful county has to offer. It has been a fabulous day of filming with Jules and the very professional crew – we’re really looking forward to seeing the final result!”
