Autumn Fun at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. Struggling to know what to do with the children this October half term? With fun for all the family, the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre have the Autumn jam-packed with activities to suit all ages.

There is also an extra half term date for those on half term from Monday 30th. On Tuesday 31st October, there will be an extra Star Wars Jedi Academy for 4-11 year olds, just £4 per child. Booking is advised to avoid disappointment. On offer this October:


Star Wars Jedi Academy

Monday 23rd – Friday 27th October 1pm-2:30pm

£4 per accompanied 4-11 yr old

Have you got what it takes to become a Jedi Knight? Can you feel the force and use a lightsabre? Join us for a fun packed training session of games and activities.


Star Wars Cantina

Tuesday 24th October 10.00-11.30am

£7.50 per accompanied 4-11 yr old

Create delights, yummy enough to be served in Maz Kanata’s cantina! Make BB8 Quesadillas, Blue Bantha Milk Cocoa, Stormtrooper Marshmallows and Tie Fighter Biscuits!


Discovery Club – Autumn Leaves

Saturday 28th October 11am-12noon

Find lots of Autumn leaves and use them in all sorts of craft fun. Make rubbings, prints, and mobiles and much more.


Bonfire and Firework Event

Saturday 28th October

Craven Arms Community Bonfire is back! Join us at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre on Saturday 28th October for a bonfire and fireworks display. Why not make a day of it? Enjoy lunch in the café, check out the new and improved exhibition and film and join in our seasonal craft activities during the afternoon!

Entrance charges to the bonfire are: £3.00 per adult, £1.50 per child, £5 for a family of 2 adults and 3 children. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and fireworks at 7.30pm.

Jade Marriott-Lodge, Marketing and Development Manager at the Centre, says “We are so excited to be bringing the bonfire back to Craven Arms. We are hoping to see lots of the community there to enjoy the bonfire and firework display, we’ll be selling glow sticks and lots of delicious food will be available too. Huge thanks to those that have offered their assistance so far, including local businesses and organisations that offered their time and expertise to assist in bringing this back for the community.”

Entry to the Discovery Centre and Onny Meadows is free but there is a charge for visitors to enjoy our Shropshire Hills Through Time exhibition and visit our mammoth. The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre offers an extensive programme of family events, adult courses and a variety of activities for the whole family. The unique grass roofed building houses a replica of the famous mammoth skeleton found in Shropshire. The café serves delicious home-cooked food.
